First recognized in 2018, feline leukomyelopathy (FLM) is a debilitating neurological disease affecting panthers and bobcats in south Florida. Affected animals have difficulty coordinating their hind limbs; extreme cases have led to the animal’s death. FLM has the potential to jeopardize conservation successes achieved for the endangered Florida panther. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is working to understand the disease’s reach and cause. Your generosity makes this possible, in addition to the rehabilitation and release of injured panthers and the protection of panthers’ dens and kittens.
